THE HISTORY OF CHATEAU BEAUVILLAGE
Chateau Beauvillage has been in the Jean family for 3 generations now. Their entire domaine spreads over 21 hectares, of which 6.5 are devoted to Chateau Beauvillage. These parcels of vines are situated in the commune of Cissac, between Pauillac and Saint Estephe. Pierre Jean, the current owner, produces his wine with respect for the environment. He is a member of the Cru Artisan association, which denominates small properties but avoids competition between its members. Wine quality is closely scrutinized, and wines are kept affordable.
TASTING NOTES
The nose is fruity, racy and offers gourmandise. It reveals notes of crushed blackberry, crushed wild strawberry, crushed cassis and crushed wild raspberry combined with toasted hints, spices and a very discreet / imperceptible hint of flowers / pepper. The palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced and offers freshness, suavity, gourmandise harmony and elegance. On the palate this wine expresses notes of cherry, cassis and slight notes of wild berries, raspberry associated with touches of vanilla, toasted touches and a subtle hint of sweet spices.
A closely-balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Chateau Beauvillage is strong and structured and at the same time smooth and elegant. An intense robe reveals pure smoky aromas. The terroir really comes through in this wine, with 35 year-old vines expressing both robust Cabernet Sauvignon and the finesse of Merlot. A classy wine for any occasion!
