| As the Eden Valley embraces Australia's trend toward drinking more medium bodied styles of red wines, we are going to see a lot more of these Italian varieties popping up from the region. And if they are anything like the Frederick Stevenson Montepulciano, that is a very, very good thing.
This young vineyard just outside Angaston is blossoming and winemaker Steve Crawford is reaping the benefits. This release is perhaps his finest to date. It shows the variety's subtle herbal characters and complex mash-up of sweet and savoury fruit with all the concentration and elegance that the region is famous for. It's a great look at this emerging Italian variety on Australian shores. |
